 Educational Programs

During the 2003-2004 Season, the GTSO is sponsoring the educational programs listed below.

For information about each, select the underlined links.

The GTSO's Philosophy of Arts Education

 The GTSO believes that:

  • the creation, performance and appreciation of the arts are basic
    human behaviors: therefore, arts education is essential;

  • arts education is based upon an integral, sequential, curricular
    presentation of knowledge and skills to be acquired and applied
    by the learner;

  • response to the the arts, learning style and rate of learning are unique
    to each individual learner;

  • developing arts literacy through mastery of skills is a life-long process;

  • many institutions and organizations share the responsibility for arts
    education of the community and that through collaboration we
    efficiently broaden relevant experiences for children and adults.

The GTSO has served as a community resource in the arts throughout
the Delaware Valley. It has provided:

  • information regarding the arts and their importance to the public;

  • educational programming for school children in the only formal
    concert hall in the area;

  • preparatory and follow-up educational materials for children's
    concerts;

  • training for teachers;

  • recognition for students' accomplishments;

  • free and low-cost concert tickets for school families and staff.
